Course One: Growing In Confidence

  • Introductions and establishing goals for the day

  • Assertiveness skills training: – learning to say no; recognising your needs; dealing with confident/demanding bosses/colleagues/children; establishing motives for what you do and what you don’t do; role-play

  • Confidence tricks: – how to fake it until you make it; finding what fulfils you; making time for yourself; enhancing self-belief

Lunchtime Discussions

  • Express Yourself: - the importance of good communication; using affirmations; recognising how you feel by free writing; a creative writing exercise
  • Relaxation techniques: - what is available; finding what’s right for you; a guided relaxation/meditation
  • Q&A Session: - a recap of day’s findings; questions and answers and conclusion.
  • Optional extra: For those not having to rush off, a swim in private pool is available.

 

Course Two: The Importance of Balanced Lives

  • Introductions and establishing goals for the day
  • Letting Go and Entering the Calm Within: a breathing and relaxing session
  • Finding Yourself Again: some approaches
  • Priorities: Goals and Where You Are

Course Three: Life Balance for Lawyers*

It is a constant challenge for lawyers to find balance. They face competing demands from clients, colleagues and of course their families. In pursuing an active professional life, they often lose sight of health and happiness. Yet when they do achieve balance, they succeed not just professionally but in all areas of their lives.

In this timely series of workshops Dr Linda Spedding and Claire Gillman explore the challenges facing lawyers in the world of today. Drawing on recent research, as well as their own life experiences, they help participants understand the issues better, freeing them up to exercise their own leadership and fulfil their potential.
